Stitcher- Part Time

Reports to: Draper/Cutter, First Hand and Costume Shop Manager

Compensation: $20.00 per hour 

Position Type: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-exempt

 

Position Summary:  

The Stitcher is a part-time member of the Costume Shop team at The Ruth & Nathan Hale Theater. Working under the direction of the Draper/Cutter and First Hand, the Stitcher supports the construction, alteration, and maintenance of costumes for the theater’s inaugural 2025 season. This exciting season includes 9 mainstage productions across two brand-new stages, along with 3 youth productions. The Stitcher plays a vital role in helping costumes meet both artistic and production deadlines.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Assist with costume construction as directed by Draper/Cutter & First Hand
• Assist with fabric cutting as needed
• Help complete fitting and rehearsal notes by deadlines
• Additional tasks as assigned by the Costume Shop Manager based on the needs of the Costume Shop

Skills and Qualifications: 

• Advanced sewing skills
• Familiar with domestic machines; industrial a plus
• Demonstrate ability to use commercial patterns; able to draft patterns a plus
• Takes direction well, able to delegate
• Experience with costume construction and theater culture a plus

Compensation Guidelines:

Position Type: Part-Time

Hours to work: Up to 29 per week, can vary based on production needs
