Deck/Fly Crew

Job Summary: The Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Deck / Fly Crew members to join our production team. The Deck / Fly Crew is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of scenery, props, and other stage elements during rehearsals and performances. This role requires a strong understanding of backstage operations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively to ensure the smooth execution of each production.
Responsibilities:
Stage Operations:
- Assist in the setup, operation, and strike of scenery, props, and stage equipment for rehearsals and performances.
- Execute scene changes quickly and efficiently, following the cues and instructions of the Stage Manager.
- Ensure all stage elements are in their proper positions and securely fastened.
Fly System Operation:
- Operate the theater's fly system to move scenery, lighting, and other stage elements during performances.
- Perform regular safety checks and maintenance on fly system equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures when operating the fly system.
Backstage Coordination:
- Work closely with the Stage Manager, Technical Supervisor, and other crew members to ensure smooth backstage operations.
- Communicate effectively with other crew members to coordinate scene changes and other backstage activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized backstage area.
Rehearsals and Technical Support:
- Attend all technical rehearsals and provide support for the setup and adjustment of stage elements.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that arise during rehearsals and performances.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures when handling stage equipment and operating the fly system.
- Ensure all stage operations comply with industry safety standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in stage crew or technical theater roles preferred.
- Familiarity with fly systems and stage rigging techniques.
- Strong understanding of backstage operations and stagecraft.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and irregular hours as required by production schedules.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy stage equipment and work at heights.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation: $16 per hour
