The Phantom of the Opera

Male Presenting, Adult - Mature adult
Vocal Range: High Baritone or Tenor (Ab3 to Ab5)
Audition Song: Music of the Night
A deranged musical genius who lives hidden beneath the Paris Opera. He develops an obsession with the young ingénue Christine, whom he gives music lessons through a mirror in her dressing room. Dynamic, mesmerizing, and ghostly, he holds the entire opera house hostage to his whims.

Christine Daee

Female Presenting, Late teen - Young adult
Vocal Range: Soprano Lyric or Light Colouratura (G3 to E6)
Audition Song: Think of Me
Christine is a young ingénue who begins as a dancer but is given the chance to sing after being secretly taught by the Phantom. Her talent propels her to stardom at the Paris Opera. As a child, she once met a boy named Raoul, and when they reunite at the opera, they fall in love. Christine is best friends with Meg and is deeply vulnerable following the loss of her musician father.

Vicomte Raoul de Chagny

Male Presenting, Adult - Mature adult
Vocal Range: High Baritone (Ab3 to Ab5)
Audition Song: All I Ask of You

Raoul is a charismatic and devoted young nobleman who rekindles his childhood bond with Christine and quickly falls in love with her. As a wealthy patron of the Paris Opera, he uses his influence to protect her from the Phantom’s grasp. Brave and determined, he ultimately risks everything in a dramatic confrontation with the Phantom to save Christine.

Meg Giry

Female Presenting, Late teen - Young adult
Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (Bb3 to F5)
Audition Song: Where in the World

Meg is the lead dancer in the corps de ballet and Christine’s closest friend. When Carlotta quits the production, it is Meg who eagerly volunteers Christine to sing, setting her on the path to stardom. She is bright, curious, and deeply loyal, with a keen interest in the mystery surrounding the Phantom. Her mother, Madame Giry, is the strict and watchful ballet mistress.

Monsieur Gilles Andre

Male Presenting, Mature Adult
Vocal Range: Baritone (A3 to A5)
Audition Song: Managers Scene
André is one of the two new managers of the Paris Opera. More pragmatic and sarcastic than his counterpart, he is primarily focused on keeping the opera running smoothly. To him, the Phantom is little more than an annoying disruption, and he grows increasingly frustrated with the chaos surrounding Carlotta, Raoul, Christine, and the rest of the company.

Richard Firmin

Male Presenting, Mature Adult
Vocal Range: Baritone (A3 to F5)
Audition Song: Managers Scene
Firmin is the more serious and business-minded of the two new opera managers. Focused on finances and the theater’s success, he views the Phantom and the ongoing drama at the opera house as little more than an opportunity for publicity. Practical and profit-driven, he is determined to keep the company running despite the growing chaos.

Carlotte Giudicelli

Female Presenting, Mature Adult
Vocal Range: Soprano Colouratura (C4 to E6)
Audition Song: Primadonna
Carlotta is the resident opera diva, commanding the stage as the leading soprano in every production. With Christine’s sudden rise to stardom, she feels her position is threatened. After a near-miss with a falling backdrop—an apparent warning from the Phantom—she dramatically quits the production of Hannibal. However, she later returns, relishing the moment when the managers plead for her to star in Il Muto. A true "drama queen," Carlotta is flamboyant, temperamental, and fiercely protective of her status at the opera.

Madame Giry

Female Presenting, Mature Adult
Vocal Range: Mezzo-Soprano (Bb3 to Bb5)
Audition Song: Those Who Speak
Madame Giry is the strict and enigmatic ballet mistress of the Paris Opera House. Mysterious and poised, she possesses secret knowledge of the Phantom and serves as an intermediary between him and the opera’s management. Though she rarely reveals her true feelings, she repeatedly warns the new managers not to provoke the Phantom, understanding the consequences of defying him.

Ubaldo Piangi

Male Presenting, Mature Adult
Vocal Range: Tenor (D4 to C6)
Audition Song: Don Juan
Piangi is a grandiose and accomplished opera tenor, known for his powerful voice and thick Italian accent. As Carlotta’s counterpart, he shares her diva-like temperament and expects to be treated as a star. Larger-than-life and melodramatic, he thrives in the spotlight, embodying the grandeur of the opera.

Joseph Buquet

Male Presenting, Mature Adult
Vocal Range: Bass (E5 to D4)
Audition Song: Masquerade
An old stagehand at the Paris Opera House, Buquet is known for his eerie tales of the Phantom. He sings a chilling song to the ballet girls, describing the ghostly figure he claims to have seen. Though many dismiss him as eccentric, his fate serves as a grim warning of the Phantom’s power.
